Bayern Munich: The Perfect Start

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea 2012 Champions League

Sitting on a perfect start to the Bundesliga season with nine wins out of nine matches, die Roten have continued their dominance of the German Bundesliga. With perennial scorers Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller leading the way, the German side have given themselves a seven point pad over second placed Borussia Dortmund, who sit on 20 points.

Thus far in the season, the Germans have found their stride in their domestic league while continuing to display their winning ways in the UEFA Champions League, as well as the German Cup. With a single goal victory over Werder Bremen via Thomas Muller this weekend, the Bavarians have set themselves up perfectly for a mid-week trip to London to face off against EPL’s second placed Arsenal in the Champions League.

Bayern find themselves with a perfect record in the continental competition as well, scoring eight goals while conceding none. Arsenal find themselves at the opposite end of the group standings with zero points and two losses while conceding five goals and only scoring two. However, the Germans should prepare themselves for a stern test that is always provided by the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium in London.

Bayern will look to feed their goal-scoring tandem in Lewandowski and Muller who constantly find themselves with world-class service provided by the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Arturo Vidal, Mario Gotze, Douglas Costa, and Kingsley Coman. While Bayern possess a seemingly endless array of individual talent, Arsenal boasts great talent with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Petr Cech, and Mesut Ozil in the lineup.

While Arsenal have struggled in the Champions League, they have found decent success in their domestic league and thus will require the utmost concentration when Bayern come to town this week. Look for Bayern to get down the wings and feed their forwards while Arsenal lay back and spring counterattacks whenever possible.
